Intermediate Piano

We have heard from parents and adult students who have taken lessons at other studios that boredom has occurred after completing the beginning phase of piano lessons. At Creative Keys, we endeavor to keep the momentum going as students move through the simpler introductory pieces toward more challenging work. Seamless transition is achieved by encouraging the students to work toward their greatest potential, and by giving them the tools they need to achieve that goal. At the intermediate level, we begin to introduce pieces that meet the students' abilities while including the styles of music they prefer. We are blessed that we find very little frustration among our students but, should signs of frustration occur, we examine the areas of challenge and gently reiterate concepts that support the students as they work through those passages.

By using MIDI Files and Interactive technology, our students find that their at-home practice time is more constructive...and thoroughly more enjoyable. These files enable students to play along with "tracks" that have been created for them...by us...so they can play along with other instruments (bass, drums, guitar, etc) to gain a sense of musical collaboration. The files also enable students to correct specific notes and rhythms, adjust tempos, and focus on their most challenging measures. When practice time is productive, the student returns for the next week's lesson with a strong sense of accomplishment and enthusiasm. Intermediate students find these files to be pleasant means to incorporate musical elements they have learned in previous lessons into the more challenging conceits needed to further develop their skills.
