New Adventures for Classically-Trained Students

At Creative Keys, we often see students who have studied classically with other teachers for many years and have developed a substantial foundation in the areas of technique and repertoire...yet they begin to feel as though practicing and playing music are no longer "fun." For those students, we offer the opportunity to build upon their classical training by exploring their innate creativity. It is essential that those students recognize that their years of classical study are not wasted; on the contrary, those hours of practice have instilled in them a lovely support system for branching out into the area of improvisational playing. By introducing them to Jazz Piano Lessons, we open to them a way of looking at music from a completely different perspective. As they begin to see the one-dimensional notes they've been playing take different shapes by exercising their own creative vision, they experience a reinvigoration of their attitudes toward playing. Our goal is to make the process of playing piano fun!
